To review:
The way in which a horticulturist can force long day plants or summer blooming flowers to flower at the time of winter.
Given:
A horticulturist needs a large number of plants to flower simultaneously as she needs for a lot of different occasions. Many of the plants she has are summer blooming plants.
Introduction:
Photoperiodism is the change caused in plants in response to exposure to periods of light and darkness. In some species of plants, flowering depends upon the periods of night length or period of darkness it receives. Plants that flower only when they are exposed to longer periods of darkness and shorter periods of light (such as in winters) are called short-day plants. Conversely, plants that flower only for long periods of light and shorter periods of darkness are called long-day plants.
