Case summary:
Person L is coming to the oncology center regularly. Her hip pain is increasing, and she continues to have fatigue. Her doctor has told her that this will likely be the last chemotherapy treatment protocol she will be able to have. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) shows that the cancer has spread to the L’s lung. It is 1 month from the time that her son’s wife is to have their baby. Her husband has been helping to care for L at home because less physically able to do normal daily activities. Her daughter tries to help, but her job sometimes takes her out of town for short trips.
Explanation of Solution
The person L had cancer and she has increasing hip pain and she continues in having fatigue. She knows all the limitations or threats by lung cancer. She is been suggested for chemotherapy. Her husband, son and daughter are taking care of her at home. She has a supportive family that makes to increase her desire to live. She hopes the chemotherapy, it definitely increases the lifetime of her and makes her to feel better.
Chemotherapy definitely causes the severe fatigue, her only belief is the spiritual support by attending the church prayer.
In this case, the nursing assessment question is based on the spiritual support that only helps the patient during fatigue in chemotherapy.
