You are studying the mating patterns of a group of elephant seals. In the group, you believe that the five males will get equal access to the 100 females during mating season. If the Chi-square calculated value for this example is 2.6, what can you say about the results? Group of answer choices Some male seals mate with significantly more females while other male seals mate with fewer females. The null hypothesis is rejected There is no difference in the number of mates per male seal. The p-value is less than 0.05
Which of the following statements is NOT the reason why females are choosy?     By being choosy, she can acquire advantageous genotypes for her offspring from her mates.     By being choosy, she can acquire resource for her offspring from her mates.     By being choosy, she can ensure that her male offspring can attract more females as well.     Her seeming choosiness is a by-product of her stereotypical behaviors exploited by the males for mating gains.     All listed above are reasons why she is choosy
Intrasexual selection involves competition among one sex (typically males) for mating access to the other sex. Intersexual selection involves mate choice in which individuals from one sex (typically females) choose their mates from among individuals of the other sex. Imagine a group of males that is engaged in agonistic behavior, from which Male A emerges triumphant. Now imagine a female that is assessing all of the males that were involved in the fights, and chooses Male A. Explain why this situation shows how intrasexual and intersexual selection pressures are likely both at play in the trait selection.
