Explanation of Solution
Two culture tubes are required for the microbial analysis. One culture tube is used to identify and view the particular microbes of interest by following the specific microscopical and staining techniques. The other culture tube is used for performing the other serological analysis that includes biochemical and immunological assays. Having two culture tubes would provide sufficient availability of the sample specimens for analysis with minimal possibilities of contamination.

Microbiology for Surgical Technologists (MindTap Course List)
- History may not be your favorite subject, especially learning about a bunch of long-dead scientists who made discoveries that we now take for granted. With an open mind, you may actually find the information interesting and learn a few things you didnt know before. During your examination of the topics in this chapter, consider the following: Which pioneers of microbiology had the biggest impact on surgical patient care?arrow_forwardA craniotomy for biopsy was scheduled and the neurosurgeon advised the staff that the patient was being assessed for symptoms of ataxia and relatively sudden onset of dementia. Tumors and any other intracranial lesions had been ruled out by radiographic studies. The patient had lived in England approximately 10 years ago. Why would this particular disease and surgical procedure be of special concern for the handling, decontaminating, or reprocessing of the instrumentation?arrow_forwardA surgical technologist working in the Central Sterile Processing Department is asked to run the steam sterilizer (autoclave) with a biological monitor for the first load of the day without any instrument trays or items. What must be done with the bacterial sample after it is processed in the sterilizer?arrow_forward
- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have initiated revised policies regarding reimbursement to hospitals for care of patients who suffer health care-associated infections (HAIs) such as SSIs. Hospitals must bear the costs of treatment. Health care workers are the key in preventing patient injury and protecting hospitals. What is an example of a routine procedure performed by surgical technologists prior to entering the sterile field that would be part of the aseptic technique?arrow_forwardMICROBIOLOGY: Microscopic Morphology of Microbes Write your introduction (This includes principles, significance of the study, objectives of the experiment and how the objectives were achieved, methodology and redults and discussions. This part must also be in the passive voice and past tense. Introduction must be short but packed with relevant content). Just answer results and discussions and objectives.arrow_forwardMICROBIOLOGY: Microscopic Morphology of Microbes Write your introduction (This includes principles, significance of the study, objectives of the experiment and how the objectives were achieved. This part must also be in the passive voice and past tense. Introduction must be short but packed with relevant content). Just answer objectives and principles.arrow_forward
- You have learned many different techniques so far this semester that allow us to identify pathogenic microbes in the clinical setting. Why do you think rapid methods are so helpful? Why are traditional tests such as metabolic tests not always used to ID clinically important microbes?arrow_forwardI would like to ask for the introduction of the laboratory exercise about MICROBIOLOGY: Microscopic Morphology of Microbes. In would include the principles, significance of the study, objectives of the experiment, and how the objectives were achieved. This part must also be in the passive voice and past tense. The introduction must be short but packed with relevant contentarrow_forwardSubject: Phlebotomy Briefly explain why microcollection techniques must be used when collecting samples from infants.arrow_forward
- Which of the following is similar to a block of highly purified “jello-like” substance that is not completely solid and has numerous pores throughout its structure? A. Micropipette b. Restriction enzymes c. Agarose d. Negative electrode please give correct answerarrow_forwardIn this topic, we will discuss all the instruments that you, as soon-to-be medical technologist, will be using soon in the laboratory whether diagnostic laboratory, clinical trial laboratories or research laboratories. Based on all your available resources (books, ebooks, internet, journals, etc.), which do you think is the best instrument to be used in a laboratory? Defend your answer. -Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry -Reflectance Spectrophotometry -Electrophoresis -Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry -Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometryarrow_forwardWhy do you think rapid methods so helpful to identify pathogens microbes in clinical settings. Why are traditional test such as metabolic test not always used to ID clinically important microbes Please make it simple and short.Thanksarrow_forward
