Steroid hormones are synthesized from cholesterol and released immediately in the blood stream (the hormone circulates with blood by binding to plasma protein as it is insoluble in blood). They are fat soluble small molecules and can pass through the cell membrane.
Example; sex hormone (testosterone and estrogen), aldosterone and cortisol.
