Chapter 27.8, Problem 1MQ
Summary Introduction
In immunofluorescence techniques, antibodies consisting of conjugated fluorescent dyes (fluorescent antibodies) can be used for the detection of antigens on intact cells. If fluorescent antibodies bound to the cell surface antigens, the antigen-antibody complex can be visualized under the fluorescence microscope. The fluorescent antibodies bound with cells can emit characteristic fluorescent color when excited at particular wavelengths. These fluorescent antibodies are widely involved in the diagnostic and research purposes. The fluorescent antibody staining techniques can be a direct or indirect method.
