The diet is the intake of food by the organism which helps in growth, health and reproduction. Some organisms can make their own food like plants while some cannot and dependent on the food prepared by the other organisms. The organism that cannot prepare their own food by fixing carbon dioxide and other nutrients from the environment is known as heterotrophs.
