Biodiversity: it refers to the diversity present in biotic component of ecosystem. Plants, animal, even microbes show wide range of variability in form of genetic diversity, species diversity and ecological diversity.

Currently 1.3 million species have been identified but estimated number range between 7 to 8.7 million.

70% of all the recorded species are animals. Insects show most species diversity that is 40% of all recorded species.
