A membrane-bound organelle which presents in fungal and plant cells are called as vacuole. Vacuole plays a prominent role in the autophagy, degradation of cell structure and various substance in specific organisms. In the cytoplasm of protozoa, one or more vacuole is generally present. These are distinguished into secretory, contractile, and phagocytic or food vacuoles.
