The endocrine system is a part of the body’s communication network. Hormones are the communication molecules of the endocrine system. This system consists of two main components: glands and hormones. An endocrine gland is composed of cells that synthesize and release hormones into the bloodstream. A hormone is a biochemical molecule that runs in the bloodstream and regulates the functions of different cells.
