The human gut (gastrointestinal tract) microbiota includes all the microorganisms present in the gut (stomach and intestine) of an organism. The gut microbiota plays a very important role in shaping the immune system of the individual during infancy and also later in life. Any alteration in the population and activity of microbiome is associated with a variety of diseases. For example: obesity, asthma, diabetes, liver disease, and so on.
