Explanation of Solution

In the digestive system there are many organs. It starts from the mouth or the buccal cavity and ends at anus. All the organs have different functions. The lists of various organs involved in the digestive system are as follows:

  1. 1. Buccal cavity: It is the cavity of the mouth. Food is chewed and masticated and grinded by the teeth and its digestion starts with the action of a carbohydrate lytic enzyme called the ptyalin or the salivary amylase.
  2. 2. Esophagus: It is a long narrow tube from where the food passes to the stomach for further digestion.
  3. 3. Stomach: It is a pouch like structure where the digestion of food materials. The secretion of hydrochloric acid apart from some enzymes which helps in digestion of the food substances like the proteins, carbohydrates, fats and so on.
  4. 4. Small intestine: It is a long and highly convoluted tubular structure. In this part of digestive system where the absorption of vital nutrients and minerals takes place. It is also the last site where the digestion takes place.
  5. 5. Large intestine: It is also a tubular structure. Here only the final absorption of mainly water and the essential nutrients takes place. No digestion takes place in the large intestine.
  6. 6. Anus: It is that part of the digestive system from where the waste, unwanted fecal, and the undigested matter are excreted out of the body.
