Oligomycin is an antibiotic that inhibits ATP synthase. If ATP synthase is not operable, what happens to the energy from electron transport?
Concept introduction:
ATP synthase is an enzyme that creates energy storage molecule, ATP. The ATP is generally called as energy hub of cells for most organisms. It is formed from ADEP and inorganic phosphate. ATP synthase consists of 2 subunits, F0 and F1, which has rotational motor mechanism allowing ATP production. The F0 is water soluble while the F1 is hydrophilic.
