Temperature of ice =0°C

Formula used:

Heat required:

   Q=mcΔT

Where,

m is mass of substance.

c is the specific heat.

   ΔTis the change in temperature.

The formula to calculate required heat when there is a phase change:

   Q=mL

m is the mass of substance.

L is latent heat.

Calculation:

Heat lost when 100°Cof steam changes its phase to 100°Cof water is:

   Q 1 =m L 1

(where, L 1 is latent heat of vaporization of water is equal to 540cal g 1 )

Here

   m=1gram

Then, Q 1 =1×540 Q 1 =540cal

Heat lost when 100°Cwater cools down to 0°Cwater

   Q 2 =mcΔT

(where c is specific heat capacity of water is equal to 1cal/g°C)

Here, m=1gram

   Q 2 =1×1×( 1000 )

Heat lost when 0°Cof water changes its phase to 0°Cof ice
