Corpus luteum after ovulation (about two weeks) degenerated during reproductive cycle and the level of estrogen and progesterone decreases rapidly it results in the destruction of uterine lining. That would lead for the abortion of the embryo. Some hormones play essential role to support the uterine wall during pregnancy and prevent abortion.
