With the presence of strong field ligand in the complex, more crystal field stabilization energy (CFSE) is required by the complex which results in the absorption of the color from the region of lower wavelength that is from VBG and transmission of complementary color takes place.
And with weak field ligand, complex absorbs the color from the region of higher wavelength that is from YOR and transmission of complementary color takes place
