Summary Introduction
Introduction:
The term “synapse” was first introduced by Sherrington, which refers to the communication point between two neurons. There are two types of synapses involved in the different aspects of behavior: ionotropic and metabotropic synapses. Ionotropic synapses mostly rely on either glutamate or GABA, whereas metabotropic synapses use number of neurotransmitters, for example, dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine. Ionotropic synapses act fast and brief when compared with metabotropic synapses. Metabotropic synapses mostly involve in emotion, attention, and pleasure aspects.
