Interpretation: Explain how the hormones insulin and glucagon regulate the rates of glycogenesis, glycogenolysis and glycolysis
Concept Introduction: Glycogenesis is the reverse process of glycogenolysis. In glycogenesis, glycogen is synthesized from glucose. The glycogenolysis process is regulated by the hormonal activity, when the level of glucose is less in the body.
Glycogenolysis is the process of breakdown of glucose of n-residues into glucose-1-phosphate and glucose of (n-1) residues in the presence of several enzymes, such as glycogen phosphorylase, phosphoglucomutase. The glycogenolysis process is regulated by the hormonal activity when the level of glucose is less in the body.
