Concept introduction:
E0 or Standard Cell Potential is difference in potential that develops between electrode and solutions of ions in a cell which is measured when concentration of ions is 1 M and temperature is 25 degree Celsius.
E0 of cell is calculated using following formula:
E0 cell = E0 cathode - E0 anode
Where : E0 cell = standard cell potential
E0 cathode = Standard reduction potential of cathode ( electrode where reduction occurs)
E0 anode = Standard reduction potential of anode ( electrode where oxidation occurs)
