Chapter 21, Problem 29CP
Summary Introduction
To review:
The main regions where the internal and external iliac arteries provide the blood.
Introduction:
Aorta is the body's largest artery, which is responsible for supplying oxygenated (oxygen-rich) blood from the heart's left ventricle to every tissue in the body. The aorta has four regions, namely, the ascending aorta, abdominal aorta, aortic arch, and thoracic aorta. In the end, this abdominal aorta divides into left and the right common iliac arteries at the level of fourth lumbar vertebrae. These left as well as right common iliac arteries then subdivide into two iliac arteries, namely the external and internal.
