Give an example of each.
To find:
The four major types of tissues present in the body with their examples.
Answer to Problem 1RCC
Solution:
The four main types of tissues found in the human body are epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue, and nervous tissue.
Explanation of Solution
Tissues are defined as a group of similar cells that performs a similar function.
The four major types of tissues found in the body are as follows:
• Epithelial tissue:
It consists of tightly packed cells that cover the internal and external surfaces of the body. For example skin.
• Connective tissue:
It consists of cells scattered within an external matrix. It binds and supports other tissues and organs present in the body. For example, bone, cartilage, and blood.
• Muscle tissue:
It consists of muscle cells that can contract or shorten. For example, skeletal muscles (voluntary movements), smooth muscles (internal organs and blood vessels), and cardiac muscles (heartbeat).
• Nervous tissue:
It is involved in transmitting information from one place to another in the body. For example, brain, spinal cord, and nerves.

A common cause of cardiovascular disease is atherosclerosis, the hardening and narrowing of arteries due to a buildup of plaque. For instance, significant narrowing in the coronary arteries, which bring oxygenated blood to the heart, can produce symptoms such as chest pain, dizziness, and breathlessness.
