Question
Chapter 15, Problem 23Q
Summary Introduction
To explain: What would happen to proteins bound for the nucleus, if there were insufficient energy to transport them.
Concept introduction: The entry and export of the large molecules from the cell’s nucleus is regulated by the nuclear pore complexes. The enzyme GTPase binds with the guanosine triphosphate (GTP) and will hydrolyze to form GDP and release energy. To release their cargo protein, importins will bind with the Ran GTP and exportins bind with Ran GTP to form complexes with their export cargo.
