Introduction:
In medical terms, resistant means that something has the ability to oppose or withstand something.
Explanation of Solution
The insect population were once resistant to certain pesticides. However, with the passage of time, certain pesticide usage has been stopped. This has resulted into development of insect generations that are no longer resistant to a certain pesticide. The pesticide that once induced resistance in insects through genetic mutations failed to induce resistance in newer generations of insects. This is the reason insects are no longer resistant to the pesticides.
