Cancer is usually known as a disease of the DNA. Its roots lie in the change in the DNA of a cell. Due to these changes, the control of division can be lost. Two types of genes are affected by the mutation of DNA. These genes are tumor suppressor and oncogene.
The molecule due to which a cell becomes unable to grow and divide is known as a tumor suppressor.
The gene whose product encourages a cell for division and growth is known as an oncogene.
