The rectus abdominis muscle is a paired muscle, rectus literally means “straight” so it runs vertically on both the sides of the anterior wall of the abdomen. These muscles are innervated by the thoracic and abdominal nerves. It starts at the pubic bone and ends at the sternum of the body.
