Concept Introduction:

The pattern of inheritance describes the pattern of transfer of genes from parents to offspring. The principles of heredity have been used and applied since very early years. Many early concepts of inheritance like pangenesis, preformationism and blending inheritance were proposed to understand science of genetics better.

The similarities and differences between preformationism and blending inheritance.

Concept Introduction:

The blending inheritance states that when a trait is passed from parents to offspring, it results in the formation of intermediate phenotype or appearance in the offspring. The offspring does not acquire either of the genotypic traits of the two parents but the two genotypic traits of parents blends together to form new phenotype or trait in offspring.

Preformationism suggests the idea that egg or sperm consists of a fully developed miniature human called homunculus. This miniature human enlarges or develops into fully mature adult through development.
