Summary Introduction

Introduction

The young old (ages 65 to 74) are more likely to be financially independent, healthy, active and engaged. The oldest old (age 85+) are more likely to have health and financial problems, and feel lonely. The old old (ages 75 to 84) are in between these extremes. As life expectancies for both men and women increase, and health care for the aging becomes more sophisticated, these problems may delay to even later years.
