To answer:
Discuss the onset of puberty with Ms. E.
Case summary:
Ms. E (12-year-old) has been admitted to the hospital for an appendectomy. She has been worried about her physical growth (associated with her peers). A nurse may recognize the teenagers’ anxiousness about their bodily changes and developments (how they want to look like). A nurse should also be conscious of the teenagers’ mental, physical, and social potentials (they may get influenced by their peers).
Explanation of Solution
The gonadotropin hormones are responsible for puberty. The timing of puberty may vary depending upon each individual. In general, it occurs between 11-14 years of age. Ms. E (12-year-old) will probably have a growth spurt (before menarche). She will begin to see the signs (physical) of puberty. These are all the concerns of a nurse about the onset of sexual maturity (puberty) with Ms. E.
Puberty is the period when the teenager attains sexual marurity and able to reproduce.
