Program Plan Intro

Networks:

A collection of devices and computers connected together to transmit their data is called a network.

• Both tangible and intangible resources can be shared through the network.
  • Tangible resources are anything that has physical existence such as printers.
  • Intangible resources are the ones that do not have physical existence such as files.
• The connection between the computers is made using wired communication such as physical cables or wires or wireless communication such as radio waves or infrared signal.

Types of network:

• Local Area Network (LAN)
• Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
• Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)
• Wide Area Network (WAN)
• Personal Area Network (PAN)
