Chapter 10, Problem 1AC
In the third century BC, Archimedes said, "Give me a long enough lever and a firm fulcrum and I will lift the earth." (a) Using the moon as a fixed fulcrum, how long a lever would Archimedes have needed to lift the earth? (b) What would be the mechanical advantage of such a simple machine? (Disregard the mass of the lever. Assume the weight of the earth is 5.85 × 1025N, Archimedes' weight is 858 N, and the distance from the earth to the moon is 3.84 × 108m.)

torque?
So I have the same question but my m = 6.8 kg, however, I cannot get the last question:
It keeps saying to look at my last step and make sure I am rounding everything to two sig figs, so can I get some help?
Greek engineers had the unenviable task of moving large columns from the quarries to the city.
One engineer, Chersiphron, tried several different techniques to do this. One method was to cut
pivot holes into the ends of the stone and then use oxen to pull the column. The 4ft diameter
column weighs 12000lb, and the team of oxen generates a constant pull force of 1500lb on the
center of the cylinder G. Knowing that the column starts from rest and rolls without slipping,
determine the velocity of its center G after it has moved 5ft and the minimum static coefficient
of friction that will keep it from slipping.
