Styloglossus is classified as the styloid muscle and out of three, it is the smallest and the shortest muscle. It is also referred as the muscle of the tongue. This muscle arises from the lateral and the anterior surface of the styloid process. This muscle curves in the forward direction and medially as well and it found attached to the inferior as well as the lateral region of the tongue.
