Assume that a person has to go to the central business district (CBD) to work or to get the goods and services that the person wants. Each household may choose to live in the CBD, 1 mile away from the CBD, or 2 miles away from the CBD. All houses are identical in their features, except for location. A household may live in a motor home and move from one lot to another with no cost. A one-man household must pay a rent to live in a certain lot. The person is employed and completes one-round trip to the CBD every day, 15 days per month. We assume that this person earns $30 per hour and can travel at an average speed of 15 miles per hour. We only consider the person's time spent on working and commuting each day: that is, the person can reduce the time cost of commuting by living closer to the CBD. Time saved from commuting can be used to work more and earn more money. If this one-man household is currently living in a lot 2 miles away from the CBD, how…arrow_forward

She is now at the step where she is identifying key variables and making key assumptions. Which of the following activities would Bonnie do in this step? O Narrow her choice to three possible trips to make calculations easier, then list major cost categories that could change such as transportation, lodging, activities, and food. O Decide which trip best meets her budget and preferences. O Look at the pictures she took on her trip and think about how she can better stay under her budget the next time she travels. O Forget planning and book a one-way flight to Thailand in first class for $1250. O Add up all her estimates for transportation, lodging. activities, and food then subtract the total from $1300 for each possible trip.arrow_forwardCalculate the appreciation rate of each home. Show your work. Then, write at least two paragraphs that discuss which home you’d like to buy, based on the rate at which it will appreciate and its features. In paragraph 1, include each appreciation rate. Why do you think the appreciation rates are different for each home? Explain your reasoning. In paragraph 2, compare and contrast the features of the homes, based on what you would be looking for in a house. Be sure to state which home you would want to buy. (If you buy Home 1, you think that you will own it for 3.5 years, but if you buy Home 2, you will likely own it for 7.25 years. You’re unsure how long you might stay in Home 3, but you think it would be about 4.75 years.)arrow_forward

Ms. Faye Santos is an accounting major at a Midwestern state university located approximately 60 miles from a major city. Many of the students attending the university are from the metropolitan areas and visit their homes regularly on the weekends. Faye, an entrepreneur at heart, realizes that few good commuting alternatives are available for students doing weekend travel. She believes that a weekend commuting service could be organized and run profitably from several suburban and downtown shopping mall locations. Faye has gathered the following investment information. Five used vans would cost a total of $75,000 to purchase and would have a three-year useful life with negligible salvage value. Faye plans to use straight-line depreciation. Ten drivers would have to be employed at a total payroll expense of $48,000. 3. To do this, you spend a day surveying visitor to the site. You divide the area around the site into 3 zones. You ask each person you interview where they come from. Based on that information, and figures on annual attendance at the park, you are able to calculate the annual number of visitors from each zone. Your data are shown below. For each zone, the total travel cost 1 euro per person for each kilometer traveled to and from the site.
