Introduction:
Reproduction is an important life process for most of the living organisms by which they produce offspring but it is not an essential life process.
Explanation of Solution
Most living organisms reproduce and produce offspring. Reproduction is not an essential characteristic for the individual organisms. However, for the existence of a species the members of that species must reproduce and produce fertile offspring. If the individuals of a species do not reproduce, then the species become extinct after the death of its last individual.
Thus, reproduction is a characteristic of life that enables a species to continue the race of that species.
