A programming environment is a set of tools to develop and maintain programs in any language. Some of the environments may be very simple such as containing of only a file system, text editor, linker and compiler. While some other may have a variety of tools like debugger, memory and stack frame lookups and many others which can be accessed through graphical toolbars.
These types of environments make software development a relatively effortless process. So, it is evident that not only language but programming environment also plays a great role in software development and maintenance process.
