Concept explainers
Interpretation: This is to be explained that a theory is an attempt to explain what happens in an experiment.
Concept Introduction: The scientific method is a systematic way of collecting evidence to support theories/concepts. This helps to explain the nature around us. In scientific disciplines, the term “model”, “observation”, “theory” and “law” holds different meanings of phenomena.
Answer to Problem 10STP
An experiment is a physical procedure used to test an idea. A theory witnessed over and over always the same results. So, a theory is an attempt to explain what happens in an experiment.
Explanation of Solution
A theory is a group of connected ideas or concepts intended to describe something. It involves question- “why” or “how anything/ somethings happens. For example, after this Newton gave a theory that there might be some force, which pulls the apples down toward the ground. This theory is known as gravity.
An experiment is a way to test a hypothesis; where the hypothesis is a testable, tentative explanation for observations. Controlled, field and natural experiments are three main types of experiments.
For example, Theories by Gregor Mendel were proved to right with the help of the biochemical explanation of Mendel’s laws by T.H. Morgan.
