Genetics is concerned with the study of genes and their heredity from parents to offspring. A genetic cross is a deliberate mating of the organisms such that the offspring carries genes from both parents. The two parents with similar or different traits might be mated in order to assess the offspring for the characteristics they possess. They genetic cross may be a monohybrid cross, dihybrid cross, back cross or test cross.The idea of genetic cross was first established by Gregor Mendel who performed genetic cross between pea plants with distinct and similar traits.
