Question

What are The effects of random events on penetrance and expressivity?

Expert Solution
Step 1- Introduction

Genotype- It is the set of genes that we have inherited from our parents and will pass on these characters to the next generation, these genes when expressed in an individual can be seen externally.

Phenotype- It is the set of external appearance characters which are the outcome of genes inherited.

Penetrance- It is the number of individuals who are having a specific genotype and also expressing the corresponding phenotype. We can measure the penetrance in a  large population, It also measures the occurrence of phenotype.

Expressivity- Height of the expression of the character phenotypically means externally. It measures the potency of the phenotype.

These both Penetrance and expressivity measure the gene expression which has been affected by the environment and because of the changes in genetic background.
