Since World War II, unions have played a significant role in the American economy. Fighting for improved working conditions and wages while upholding employee rights. A labour union is a collective group of employees who get together to represent themselves as a single force and make demands of their employer. The collapse of unions can be attributed to workers emphasising work-life balance and learning new skills more. A rise in technology has made it possible for more people to work for themselves through freelancing options like gig work and blogging. Creating a bargaining union is the first stage in forming a union. A bargaining union, according to the National Labor Relations Board, is "a group of two or more employees who have a communiony of interest and may properly be put together for the purpose of collective bargaining." They will meet with several union member leaders to choose who would best represent them when the bargaining union has been established. Once a choice has been made, the following procedure is known as voluntary recognition, in which workers sign a card indicating their support for being represented by a union. Before alerting their employer of their desire to unionise, at least 51% of the workers must support it. Employers are free to reject union recognition, which gives workers a few legal tools to take the company to court. They can organise a vote, form a picket of workers, or call a strike.
