Stages of development or development can be defined as the series of changes that occur according to the ages over a course of life. It has been observed that people pass through different stages of their life and in each stage, they develop different skills and personalities which often help them in their upcoming life and also to become a social being. They even develop certain capabilities which even help them to cope with the ever-changing nature of society. 

Different sociologists and psychologists have given different theories on the development of the stages of the human being. Among them, Sigmund Freud, Jean Piaget, Erik Erikson, G.H Mead, Lawrence Kohlberg, and Carol Gilligan are well known for their theories on the development of the stages of human life.
