The Atlantic Slave Trade refers to the European activity of transporting the African people and other natives , who were captured as slaves , via oceanic routes to different colonies and back to Europe for labor work. This activity started in the early sixteenth century and continued till the end of the nineteenth century. It happened in the backdrop of colonization activities and the search for new colonies. Britain was the leading nation in this slave trade.
