Question
Perform the test of hypothesis on the following scenarios.
The minimum wage earners of the National Capital Region are believed to be receiving less than Php 5,000.00 per day. The CEO of a large supermarket chain in the region is claiming to be paying its contractual higher than the minimum daily wage rate of Php 500.00 To check on this claim, a labour union leader obtained a random sample of 144 contractual employees from this supermarket chain. The survey of their daily wage earnings resulted to an average wage of Php 510.00 per day with standard deviation of Php 100.00. The daily wage of the region is assumed to follow a distribution with unknown population variance. Perform a test of hypothesis at 5% level of significance to help the labour union leader make an empirical based conclusion on the CEO's claim.

- According to the Community College Research Center at the Teachers College of Columbia University in New York, 32% of community college students work full-time (full-time defined to be a person working 35 or more hours per week). Bryanna believes that this percentage may be higher among BTC students, so she decides to take a survey of BTC students to determine if her hypothesis is correct or not. Correctly identify a Type I error in Bryanna's study. Bryanna will commit a Type I error if she concludes the true proportion of BTC students working full time is equal to 32%, when in fact the true proportion of BTC students working full time is greater than 32%. They have produced guidelines called dietary reference intakes for different gender-by-age combinations. For vitamin C, there are three dietary reference intakes: the estimated average requirement (EAR),which is the mean of the requirement distribution; the recommended dietary allowance (RDA),which is the intake that would be sufficient for 97% to 98% of the population; and the tolerable upper level (UL), the intake that is unlikely to pose health risks. For women aged 19 to 30 years, the EAR is 60 milligrams per day (mg/d), the RDA is 75 mg/d, and the UL is 2000 mg/d.
