On a 16 GB hard disk drive (HDD), each cluster consists of 32 sectors and each sector has a fixed size of 512 bytes. A text file with a size of 150,000 bytes is to be stored.

i.How many clusters does the text file take up in memory?
- ii.What is the size of the slack space, in bytes, once the file has been stored

Now I can see this question has been answered here but I am worndering if someone could clarify with me if the slack space should be counted from the total space of hard disk drive where it does clearly mention on the beginning of the question. I believe this question is tricky and should involve the calculation of total slack space from the 16GB hard disk drive which need to be converted to bytes first. I have the answer already just would like to confirm the folowing whole calculation again and include the 16GB hard disk drive space to find out what is the total slack space for the whole hard disk drive. Thank you.

- Q. 1 How long does it take to load a 64-KB program from a disk whose average seek time is 5 msec, whose rotation time is 5 msec, and whose tracks hold 1 MB(a) for a 2-KB page size?(b) for a 4-KB page size? The pages are spread randomly around the disk and the number of cylinders is so large that the chance of two pages being on the same cylinder is negligible.arrow_forwardAssuming 4K clustering for a 500-byte file, what is the size (in bytes) of the File Slack?
