In pea seeds yellow is dominant to green. what will be the proportion of each color in the offspring from a cross of
Heterozygous with heterozygous
heterozygous with green
green with green
The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a genetic material and it transfers genetic information from parents to offspring. DNA in the cell's nucleus in which it is tightly packaged into thread-like structures known as chromosomes. The structure of the chromosomes consists of a long strand of DNA. Human chromosomes contain approximately 3.2 billion of nucleotide base pairs with 20,000 to 25,000 genes for coding the proteins. A gene is defined as a segment of DNA-encoding proteins. An allele is defined as two copies of a single gene, one allele derived from the mother and the other from the father. Therefore, an individual consists of two copies of each gene.

- Purple (P) flower color is dominant to white (p) flower color. Cross two heterozygous parents using a Punnett square. What are the genotypes and phenotypes of the resulting offspring? Express the results as ratios.arrow_forwardFor peas, R means round and it is dominant. r means wrinkled. There are 2 plants that are crossed and they are heterozygous for the round pea trait. they then produce a pod with 3 peas in it. What would be the probability that either 2 or 3 of the peas are Round?arrow_forwardIn peas, the dominant R allele produces peas that are round, whereas the recessive r allele produces peas that are wrinkled. The dominant Y allele produces yellow peas, and the recessive y allele produces green peas. If two heterozygous round, yellow pea plants (RrYy) were crossed (RrYy X RrYy), answer the following regarding the possible progeny. QUESTION: What proportion of the offspring will have the genotype RR? Question 10 options: 1/2 1/16 1/4 3/4arrow_forward
- In the same cross as question #1, what fraction of the offspring will have their father's genotype for both traits?arrow_forwardIn pea plants, flower color is determined by one gene with two alleles, with the allele coding for purple flowers (P) being dominant to the allele coding for white flowers (p). If two purple-flowered offspring resulting from a cross between homozygous dominant and white-flowered parents are crossed, what percentage of the progeny are expected to have the dominant phenotype?arrow_forwardRed flowering plant are crossed with white flowering plant. The offspring shows: 1 red: 2 pink: 1 white. What are the genotypes of the parents?arrow_forward
- In a dihybrid cross for which the parental cross is A/A;B/Bx a/a;b/b, what proportion of F2 offspring will be heterozygous for both genes? Assume independent assortment. 1/2 1/4 3/4 All are heterozygotes. None are heterozygotes.arrow_forwardIn peas, yellow pods are dominant to green pods. Show the results of a cross between a pure yellow plant and a hybrid yellow plant.arrow_forward
