In genetic engineering, recombinant DNA molecules are made by the application of restriction enzymes and DNA ligases. Basically genetic engineering involves modifications of DNA, which can be  achieved by altering the nitrogenous bases or altering a particular gene. One gene is taken from a target site and inserted into a suitable vector which are generally plasmids of bacteria. It is of great significance because by the help of it we can actually modify plants to become pest resistant. By inserting human genes in bacteria we can actually use them as enzyme producers.
