Question
How does the fetch-decode-execute cycle work?
Expert Solution
arrow_forward
Step 1
Working of fetch-decode-execute cycle:
- The program counter provides the program instruction and its location to the Control Unit (CU) by fetching it from the memory unit.
- The instructions are decoded through Central Processing Unit (CPU) which can be understood by Arithmetic and Logic Unit (ALU).
- Data operands are executed according the instructions fetched and the output is stored in the registers.
- The following diagram describes about the working of the fetch-decode-execute cycle.
