Daniel Crenshaw is a former U.S. Navy SEAL and Texas political representative who has exhibited several habits of an ethical leader throughout his public service career. “Ethical leadership skills develop through years of training, experience, and learning other best practices of leadership. Daniel Crenshaw was injured in combat as a Navy SEAL and almost went blind. Daniel displayed strong personal character and continued to work with just one working eye. Daniel Crenshaw has a passion to do right which was his motivation to get involved in politics. “Public managers are expected to foster organization cultures that embody, encourage, and reward good ethical judgment in the face of a variety of pressures and constraints. Daniel Crenshaw partakes in two-way conversations as a politician and has be open to various different debates and does not stray from the conversation.
Gavin Newsom is the Governor of California. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Gavin Newsome did not practice many if not any of the seven habits of an ethical leader. “If leaders behave in an ethical manner, then, it becomes more likely that they will be honest with all subordinates in the organization. Gavin Newsom imposes some of the most controlling and restrictive laws in the United States. During the time he locked down the state, he was seen not adhering to his rules and continued to meet with large groups of people at private restaurants without wearing masks. Gavin held himself above the people he represented and was unapologetic. Gavin Newsom was not transparent in his decision-making and did not act as a role model as the people of his state suffered. Leaders such as him should stick to the principles they claim and act as an example.
