Question
Hello, I have an answer with this but I don't know if I'm correct... My answer is 0.508 g, can you calculate if my answer is correct? calculate the given problem using Hasselbach Equation.
acetylsalicylic acid is absorbed from the stomach in the free
(nonionized) acid form. If a patient takes an antacid that adjusts the pH of the stomach contents to 2.95
and then takes two 5-grain aspirin tablets (total 0.65 g), how many grams of aspirin are available for
immediate absorption from the stomach, assuming immediate dissolution? Also assume that aspirin
does not change the pH of the stomach contents. The pKa of aspirin is 3.50, and its formula weight is
180.2.

- The solution starts off acidic due to the acetic acid present. As more and more sodium hydroxide is added the acid is neutralized. At the equivalence point the amount of acid and base are exactly equal. If more sodium hydroxide is added nothing happens, the reaction is over and the solution remains neutralized The solution becomes basic The solution is still acidic, there is just more volumearrow_forwardCancel RESET Done The pH of orange juice is typically 3.5, whereas the pH of tomato juice is usually 4.5. When the paramedics arrived Molly had vomited several times, with bits of undissolved tablets visible, but seemed sleepy, almost lethargic. She was rushed to the nearest Emergency Room. When she reached the hospital she was unarousable and was breathing rapidly and deeply. She was examined and lab samples were obtained.
