Lipid rafts - Lipid raft is defined as the specialized lipid microdomain. It is present in the plasma membrane of the cell. These are more tightly packed and ordered as compare to the surrounding plasma membrane. It can float freely within the lipid bilayer membrane. Lipid raft is composed of cholesterol and sphingolipids.
Lipid rafts can also be found in other places other than the plasma membrane. Lipid rafts can also be present in the golgi apparatus and lysosomes.
