Explain how turning vanes help to reduce turbulence in an airduct.
At the point, when the wind stream alters course in a channel that needs turning vanes, the dividers of the pipe should ingest the abrupt effect of the air to reorient the wind stream to the desired course. Turning vanes help the wind stream in making a smoother and more slow alter in course, bringing about less of an effect, and hence less power moved as wind current speed builds, this impact turns out to be more articulated. While the turning vane surfaces do add a modest quantity of erosion, the measure of energy lost to contact from the vanes isn't anything contrasted with the energy lost in the effect coming about because of the wind current taking a sudden or huge alter in course.

- A 292-in.³. V8, four-stroke cycle CI engine operates at 1800 RPM, using light diesel fuel at AF = 24 and a volumetric efficiency of 94%. Injection timing is from 22° bTDC to 4° aTDC. Swirl ratio, as defined by Eq. (6-1), equals 2.8 during fuel injection. Calculate: (a) Time of one injection. [see] (b) Period of swirl (one rotation).
