Define the termTruss?

Expert Solution
Step 1

The truss is a structure that is used to distribute the load. It is made by combining members into triangular form. Trusses are preferred in the design of those structures where ample space is available like stadiums, bridges, cranes, etc. On the other hand, columns are preferred where space available is less.

The load applied to the truss is distributed within its members. The load endured by the members of a truss is always axial i.e. the nature of stress found in the member of the truss is either tensile stress or the compressive stress.
